Sermoneta sorge su una collina, in modo maestoso e scenografico, come se volesse ricordarci la gloria vissuta tanti secoli fa. Cittadina medievale probabilmente di origini preromane è padrona di una bellezza unica e una quiete che contrasta vivamente gli assordanti rumori delle grandi città. Le sue stradine strette e l’architettura che racconta un po’ della sua lunga storia, Sermoneta è uno dei tanti borghi italiani, così simili tra di loro, ma allo stesso tempo così unico e peculiare con la sua storia, la sua eredità e i suoi monumenti. E’ uno dei gioielli italiani, soprattutto della provincia del Lazio e distante 60 km da Roma.

Il clima architettonico, nonché turistico e palco di un grandissimo bagaglio storico e culturale è il Castello Caetani, una struttura che risale all’inizio del Duecento costruito dalla famiglia Annibale e acquistato dalla famiglia Caetani, ed è proprio con questi ultimi che è diventato un riferimento artistico in cui hanno soggiornato sovrani e pontefici.

Di tempo ne è passato, ma neanche questo è stato abbastanza per cancellare il bellissimo affresco realizzato in una delle sale del castello da uno sconosciuto che proviene dalla scuola del Pinturicchio.

Time has passed, but even this was not enough to erase the beautiful fresco in one of the rooms of the castle by a stranger who comes from the school of Pinturicchio.
